International - On the 16th and 17th of March, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) attended the yearly meeting of the International Association for Research in Juvenile Criminology (IARJC) at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

During this meeting, the association IARJC structured their strategies and announced their projects for the current year. The IJJO has been offered the possibility to cooperate in these projects.

International - From the 8th until the 10th of March, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory has received four members of the Don Calabria Institute (Italy).

In Italy, the Don Calabria Institute provides, amongst others, services and resources to minors, basically to reduce juvenile delinquency. They also develop programmes which promote reintegration and training for minors at risk of social exclusion.

This meeting has been very enriching for both parties which all work with the aim to develop a juvenile justice without borders.

IJJO / International Juvenile Justice Observatory

European Union - The Council of Europe has implemented the programme "Building a Europe for and with children" in order to promote the children’s rights and the protection of children against violence, within a social, legal, educational and medical context.

This interdisciplinary activities programme will cover a period of three years 2006-2008 and has been started after celebrating the Council of Europe's third Summit of Heads of State and Government (Warsaw 2005).
