Legislative File

IJJO

The IJJO has the honour to inform you about the creation of a new section ‘Legislative File’. The aim of the legislative file is to offer the IJJO Users all national legislations on minors in an ordered and organised way, including all laws in force, the partial reform laws as well as other laws regarding the protection of the rights of the child.

The elaboration of this file is possible thanks to the cooperation of our users and collaborators in the development of this complex task.

In this first edition, we present the Legislative File in Spain. The next ones will be France, Belgium, etc.  [+]

European Commission. Monitoring Commission on the European Minimum standards in pre-trial procedures

IJJO

On February 9th 2009, the IJJO participated at the experts’ meeting organised by the Justice, Freedom and Security Directorate-General of the European Commission about pre-trial procedures in the Member States in order to consider the establishment of common European minimum rules on pre-trial detention focusing specifically on minors and young people.

About the minors in conflict with the law, the experts emphasized that the European warrant, in accordance with the Council Framework Decision of June 13th 2002, cannot be fulfilled due to the differences in the age of criminal responsibility between the European Union Member States, as well as the more protective or punishing trends in national juvenile justice systems.

Conference of International Non-governmental Organisations of the Council of Europe

IJJO

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory participated at the conference of International Non-governmental Organisations of the Council of Europe. The IJJO has a Participatory Status with the Council of Europe. This way the IJJO is currently assisting the Council Member States in the the elaboration of strategies to prevent the social exclusion of young people as well as in the adoption of delinquency prevention measures, alternative measures, direct intervention with minors in conflict with the law and socio-professional reintegration programmes.

The objective of this NGO conference is to promote the welfare of civil society, the education of democratic citizenship and to fight against extreme poverty and social exclusion.  [+]
