Improvements since the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child' is the name of the new campaing launched by the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (OJJO) within the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
By means of this campaign, the OJJO provides a global retrospective vision of the evolution of the juvenile justice systems since the adoption of the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child. The campaign includes contributions of important figures in the field of children's rights promotion, providing their perspectives, expectations and an analysis of the current state of the protection of the rights of minors in situation of exclusion and seclusion. [+] | | Nov 16, 2009 INTERNATIONAL The Development of Juvenile Justice Systems in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: Lessons from Albania, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and UkraineIJJO In spite of the progress and evolution of the juvenile justice system reforms in Central and Eastern European and Central Asian countries, Unicef highlights the importance and need of sustainable progress and development of the family intervention measures and alternatives to detention in Albania, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Ukraine.
This report, elaborated by UNICEF, does an exhaustive analysis of the situation of minors in conflict with the law, underlining recurrent problems like prolonged pre trial detention, unacceptable life conditions and often detention with adults. [+] | |
This school year 2009/2010 the International School for Juvenile Justice offers the "Diploma of Specialist in coexistence and bullying at school" mainly addressed to professionals working in the socio-educational field or who are related to it.
This is an essentially practical training itinerary consisting of 285 hours of online training which will make it possible for the student to specialise in the necessary skills to treat bullying in the educational context.

In accordance with the research done by Anton Van Kalmthout of the University of Tilburg (the Netherlands) about the application modalities of the pretrial detention measures and the bases for the Common European Regulations, emphasis is put on the fact that, in a lot of countries the pretrial detention of minors is done in worse conditions than that of adults. There is a need to develop minimum standards to protect the rights and the welfare of minors in pretrial detention, both concerning the maximum duration as the educational programmes, etc.
