IJJO Glossary

IJJO

Juvenile justice in the world is framed by a wide variety of legal contexts, in which the official definition of terms is highly necessary. With this proposal in mind, the IJJO presents the IJJO GLOSSARY of terms and concepts in juvenile justice, with definitions taken from official international sources in each of the three official languages of the IJJO: English, French and Spanish.

This resource was developed with the goal of collecting together those terms which form part of the jargon most commonly used by professionals and actors involved in juvenile justice, thus being a practical and useful tool which aims to faciliate a greater comprehension and understanding of the concepts that define the different juvenile justice systems on an international level.

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) is pleased to invite you to consult the IJJO glossary and to receive your recommendations and suggestions regarding this effective tool for your daily work and the management of juvenile justice terminology. The second stage will see the development of a more interactive IJJO glossary with the participation of the users and collaborators of the IJJO.  [+]

COLLABORATION FORUM

From the point of view of the analysis of new forms of juvenile delinquency, cases of classroom violence and bullying at school are one of the greatest concerns for today’s society, with the use of new technologies also coming into the equation, giving rise to cyberbullying. Concern in this matter has led the International Juvenile Justice Observatory, through its International School for Juvenile Justice, to set in motion an innovative training action on the subject of school bullying and coexistence. It would also like to pose the following questions on the phenomenon of violence and bullying in schools:

Which resources and mechanisms are fundamental to breaking the cycle of violence and bullying in the school context?
