JUSTICIA European Rights Network

Description

Recent developments under EU law to protect the rights of victims of crime, in addition to measures to protect the rights of accused and suspected persons in criminal proceedings, will have a significant impact on domestic criminal law, policy and practice throughout the European Union. Since the European Commission granted the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) a significant operating grant in July 2012, the ICCL has taken the lead in the newly formalised JUSTICIA European Rights Network consisting of the 17 Network Member organisations listed below. Work is ongoing in preparing the Network’s projected activities such as holding training seminars and conferences; producing various publications; engaging in collective lobbying in the area of EU criminal justice, as well as developing this EU Justice portal.
