Program aims to help teen girls released from jail

FOX 17 News is taking a closer look at teen crimes involving girls.

We've learned the city has limited resources for young girls like Jayona Brown, who have been in trouble with the law.

It's not what any parent wants for their daughter, the possibility of facing hard time for a serious crime.

But more and more, it's becoming a reality for girls in Nashville like Keymay Bulter, who spent her life dodging crime all around her and dealing with a troubled home.

“I was having issues with my mother at home. I didn't want to listen and stuff like that and I was still dealing with anxiety so I was closed off and worried a lot and stressed a lot,” Butler said.

Fortunately, she avoided being arrested but that's not the same fate for others.
