The European Observatory of Violence in Schools has been existing since 1998 thanks to joint funding from the European Commission, the Aquitaine Regional Council, the French Ministry of Education, and Victor Ségalen University of Bordeaux 2.The Observatory is one of the leading structures addressing the question of the study of violence in schools. It is the concrete outcome of long-term research carried out by various teams headed by Eric Debarbieux since 1991. This research has been cumulative in France and abroad.
