The International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) is a Belgian Foundation of Public Interest based in Brussels. Since 2003, the IJJO works for the rights of children and adolescents at risk of social exclusion, especially those in conflict with the law and those living the cycles of violence and juvenile delinquency.
The IJJO is constituted as a space of development, providing of services and creation of shared knowledge that promotes and encourages the improvement of systems and policies for juvenile justice, the implementation of international standards, the strengthening of competences of professionals in the field and the exchange of innovative good practices. As a result of the technical cooperation that the IJJO and the Patronato Nacional de Encarcelados y Liberados (PNEL, national board for the welfare of prison inmates and released prisoners) of Uruguay have been developing since last 2013 within the framework of the EUROsociAL II program of the European Union, different Uruguayan institutions validated the Strategic plan for the social and professional rehabilitation of incarcerated women and young people aged 18-25 on 18-21 February 2014.
On Wednesday 12th February, UNICEF and Eurochild were proud to launch their new joint publication “Realising the Rights of Every Child Everywhere: Moving Forward with the EU” in Brussels. The conference presented the reflections on the current and future role of the EU in realising children’s rights across internal and external policy and action.
