The organisation holds the principle of child and youth participation strongly and always ensure that young people who have practical experience (graduates from CLG’s and Junior Councils) in child participation and working with children and young people take a lead in implementing all projects of the organisation. Active children and young people who graduate from supported child led groups and Junior Councils are adopted into the Organisation and given an opportunity to implement various projects. RNCYPT also has a very key important element on gender equality, its programmes seeks to ensure that girls and young women are awarded the opportunity to develop and realize their full potential that is through social, economic and political empowerment. The organisation advances the rights of girls and women and ensures that all forms of violence, discrimination and oppression against girls and young women is eliminated

RNCYPT is a Child and Youth Led organisation founded in 2012 to advance and promote the participation of children and young people in governance and other related issues that affect them. The organisation’s history goes back to 2008 when Save the Children (by then Norway) established and supported Child Led Groups across the country in order to advance child participation across a number of child related programmes. Thirty-four Child Led Initiatives (CLI’’s) (Child Led Groups and Junior Councils) across Zimbabwe were established and capacitated on child participation, child rights and child led advocacy and lobbying. The 34 CLGs formed the Zimbabwe National Coordination of Child Led Groups (ZNCCLG).
