Vienna. Austria. Side event of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
 
During the 17th session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) in Vienna, the Interagency Panel on Juvenile Justice organised a plenary session called: Advocacy, legal and policy strategies to address violence experienced by children in justice systems. This session counted on the participation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Defence for Children International (DCI) - The Netherlands, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) and Penal Reform International (PRI).

ECOSOC Regional Innovation Conference for Latin America: 'Youth: the core of sustainable development'
 
18 - 19 June 2008. Event recognized of Public and Cultural Interest in Costa Rica. Preparatory activity for the XVIII Cumbre Iberoamericana.

Within the framework of the plenary session of the Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) UN ECOSOC, which will take place in New York in July 2008, the Regional Innovation Conference 'Youth: the Core of Sustainable Development' organized by Fundación Diagrama together with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of Costa Rica and the participation of ILANUD and the International Juvenile Justice Observatory, will focus on the relationship between Sustainable Development and Youth.

AMR Regional Innovation Fair Conference offers a unique opportunity to gather a variety of involved experts, civil society members, of the academic world and the private sector, in order to promote sustainable development. The Conference will cover the following topics:

* Subjet 1: The Impact of Sustainable Development on Youth.
* Subjet 2: Youth Sustainable Development: Innovations.

AGIS Programme 'Juvenile Justice Systems in Europe -current situation, reform developments and good practices'
 
On March 13th and 15th 2008, the expert members of the AGIS Project “Juvenile Justice Systems in Europe – current situation, reform developments and good practices” met in Verona (Italy). Representatives of 27 countries presented the results and progress on the elaboration of the national reports, to revise them and publish them afterwards.

During a second phase of the programme, there will be a compilation and analysis of the intervention models which are considered to be good practices, regarding youth legislation, delinquency prevention policies and specific and important projects.

Menores adictos carecen de centros de recuperación

En el país hay pocos lugares públicos para rehabilitar a menores con problemas de drogas y alcohol. En el 2005 se registró que los lugares donde se realiza el último ofrecimiento de droga son las fiestas, discotecas o conciertos (7,2% marihuana y 5,2% otras).

Crime by girls rises by a quarter

The number of crimes committed by girls in England and Wales has gone up by 25% in three years, according to figures. The Youth Justice Board says girls committed 59,000 offences in 2006-07 - up 12,000 on 2003-4 but still far less crime than that committed by boys.

Medio millar de menores víctimas de abusos sexuales fueron atendidos en un año

Un total de 499 menores fueron atendidos en el año 2005 en el programa de evaluación y tratamiento de menores víctimas de abusos sexuales de la Junta de Andalucía. Además de esa cifra, ese mismo año se tramitaron 767 fichas por presuntas situaciones de maltrato a menores.
