The Work-Wise programme consists of three parallel routings that can be followed in a period of 1,5 to 2 years. These routings are: - Work & Schooling - Living independently & Coping with leisure time - Building a social network. Specific for Work-Wise is connecting these three routings. Basic principle is that a succesful into employment routing is only feasible when youths have learned to take care of themselves, are able to cope with their leisure time and have a social network.
Work-Wise Nederland is a partnership between 11 Dutch Juvenile and Penal Institutions, executing an into-employment programme based on the Work-Wise method. Work-Wise supports youths and young adults with a judicial measure towards finding a suitable job or vocational training. The Work-Wise programme is focussed on boys and girls aged 15 to 24, having been placed in a custodial institution following a court order; either due to a criminal sentence, or to a guardianship measure. Most of these youths already have a long history in the juvenile aid system; having serious, mostly complex problems which manifest in many areas. The objective of their stay in an institution is to develop a personal, socially acceptable, lifestyle. Work-Wise is an appropriate programme for these youths, provided they are aged 15 or older and deemed eligible for joining by a team of behavioural professionals.
