Agenda

Establishing and Consolidating National Human Rights Institutions

Courses

Date

Monday 16th of October 2006 - Friday 20th of October 2006

Description

In recent years there has been a rapid increase in the number of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) globally, and a large number of states are in the process of establishing NHRIs. Several of these actors as well as newly established NHRIs have stressed the need to discuss and clarify the precise role and functions of these institutions. This is essential to avoid overlap with other state institutions and to secure that the institutions will be able to function in an efficient and truly independent manner. It is on this background that the course is being offered.
