Agenda

Girls and the Juvenile Justice System

Seminars

Date

Tuesday 3rd of May 2016

Description

During this webinar, OJJDP Administrator Robert L. Listenbee and OJJDP Senior Policy Analyst Catherine Pierce will discuss OJJDP's policy guidance on girls and the juvenile justice system.

The policy guidance explains that nearly 30 percent of juveniles arrested are girls or young women; that their share of arrests, detainment, and court cases has steadily increased over the past two decades; and that their involvement with the juvenile justice system usually does more harm than good.

The presenters will discuss improving system and programmatic responses to girls by employing a developmental approach and engaging a broad array of stakeholders.
