Agenda

Training: Institute for Police - Youth Engagement

Courses

Date

Tuesday 15th of November 2016 - Thursday 17th of November 2016

Description

Police executives are invited to apply to participate in three-day training Institute designed to immerse law enforcement leaders in best practices and innovative approaches on how to improve interactions between youth and law enforcement while effectively contributing to juvenile justice reform.

Attendees will explore their role as change agents while determining how to more effectively address systemic juvenile justice issues, improve local response to justice-involved youth, and accelerate progress toward more successful outcomes for youth, families and the community.

Law enforcement has a significant role in the outcomes for youth, whether it be a decision to make an arrest, divert, cite, give a warning, intervene, and/or to positively engage with young people to foster positive youth development, or aid a child towards recovery in the wake of overwhelming, violent and traumatic events that occur in and around youth every day in neighbourhoods, schools, and homes.
