IJJO Day by Day

We are happy to present the new Forum of the International Juvenile Justice Observatory, defined as a space to summon the greater diversity of opinions on the aspects related to Juvenile Justice in the International scope.

It will be a permanent, virtual and international knowledge network, analysis and reflection, to approach the problem of juvenile delinquency.

The Forum approach two fields of participation; on one side we can find the International Conference on Juvenile Justice so that Experts and Professionals can participate as much as assistants and users, and on the other side, a continuous forum on Juvenile Justice in which it will be possible for anyone wishing to take part, can do so. It will be operative when the First International Conference finishes.

August 25, 2004: SPARC organized a consultation on the State of Juvenile Justice in NWFP. Addressing the consultation Mr. Zakir Shoaib while sharing his views said that juvenile prisoners are faced with the problem of delayed trials due to overburdened courts. Under the JJSO a child could be released with or without surety but should not be sent to jail in case he/she has committed a crime that has a punishment of less than ten years. Unfortunately the courts are not giving bails without sureties and arrangement of sureties sometimes becomes a problem for the juveniles.
