With the goal of raising awareness and involving society as a whole in juvenile justice and the rights of children and young people, the IJJO carries out activities of communication, dissemination, awareness-raising, and recognition of good practices and exemplary initiatives.

‘Juvenile Justice Without Borders’ International Award

The Observatory awards the ‘Juvenile Justice Without Borders’ International Award every two years. This award, which will soon celebrate its Sixth Edition, has the principal objective of recognising and raising awareness on a global scale of the exceptional work done by professionals and institutions, who are acknowledged for their dedication to improving juvenile justice and the rights of the child.

In the framework of the 2011 European Year of Volunteering and as a member of the EYV 2011 Alliance, the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO), through its European branch, the European Juvenile Justice Observatory (EJJO), worked on an awareness campaign emphasizing the benefits brought by volunteering to the youth in situation, or at risk, of exclusion.

El OIJJ proporciona mediante esta campaña una visión global retrospectiva de la evolución de los sistemas de justicia juvenil desde la adopción en 1989 de la Convención Internacional de los Derechos del Niño. La campaña cuenta con las contribuciones de importantes personalidades en el ámbito de la promoción de los derechos de niño, aportando sus visiones, esperanzas y análisis de la situación de la protección de los derechos de los menores en situación de exclusión y reclusión.

Legal assistance for children in conflict with the law

The International Juvenile Justice Observatory, in order to keep on contributing to efficient strategies that stimulate the international development of policies, legislations and appropriate intervention methods, presents the IJJO Campaign: ‘Legal assistance for children in conflict with the law’.
The IJJO has carried out a study and analysis on the legal situation of minors in conflict with the law in 175 countries. We invite our users and collaborators to consult the results of this detailed study on the necessity of the right to legal assistance for minor on a global scale. The section IJJO Campaign is a new information and analysis service which provides an international, global and interdisciplinary vision of juvenile justice.
