The eight-year conflict between Boko Haram and the Nigerian state has killed more than 20,000 and displaced millions. The people have slipped out of Boko Haram’s control quietly by night or trudged en masse from a large-scale attack to the Borno state capital, Maiduguri. It was not until parents started pouring into the city that aid workers realized a new dimension of the problem. They saw the crowds of women and girls coming in and wondered: Where are the boys?

Every year, more than 20,000 abused, delinquent, developmentally challenged or otherwise troubled Japanese children needing emergency housing pass through a system of shelters. But the conditions inside many of them are so regimented that the children can find the experience harrowing, according to interviews with more than a dozen people who have stayed or worked in the facilities, as well as child psychology experts familiar with the system.

Agencias de la ONU y la Misión de Apoyo contra la Corrupción e Impunidad en Honduras (Maccih) de la OEA rechazaron hoy un proyecto para bajar de 18 a 16 años la edad mínima de imputabilidad, una iniciativa que calificaron como "un retroceso" que no contribuye a luchar contra la criminalidad.

New York State has taken an important step toward ending child marriage, as Governor Andrew Cuomo on June 20, 2017 signed legislation to dramatically reduce the circumstances under which children can marry, Human Rights Watch said today. Between 2001 to 2010, 3,850 children under 18 married in New York State.

A new report from Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality finds that trauma-informed yoga can help girls in the juvenile justice system heal, especially if the yoga program is designed specifically for girls.

The report, titled “Gender & Trauma — Somatic Interventions for Girls in Juvenile Justice: Implications for Policy and Practice,” cites evidence that trauma-informed yoga can help girls in the juvenile justice system boost self-esteem and self-regulation, among other benefits.

The number of children being reported as victims of emotional abuse has soared by 200 per cent in seven years, more than any other form of child abuse, according to new figures released by the NSPCC.

Helpline staff have heard accounts of parents telling their children they hate them or wished they were dead, threatening them with extreme violence and blaming them for issues they are facing themselves such as unemployment or financial problems, the charity warned.
