National Youth Justice Conference 2022

The Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice (CYCJ), the National Youth Justice Advisory Group (NYJAG) and the Scottish Government are pleased to invite you to the National Youth Justice Conference 2022: ‘Our Journey to Rights Respecting Justice’.

This year’s conference will feature speakers from across the world, including Professor Ann Skelton (UNESCO Chair in Education Law in Africa); Dr Diana Johns (University of Melbourne); Professor Steve Case (author of Positive Youth Justice, Loughborough University); Sheriff Susan Craig (Interim Director of Scotland’s Judicial Institute); and Professor Ursula Kilkelly (University College Cork, Oberstown Children Detention Campus).

Also on the programme are Police Scotland, No Knives Better Lives, Our Hearings Our Voices, Youth Justice Voices and many more.

Delegates will also get to enjoy a wide variety of workshops, performances and screenings of 2021 film ‘Warriors: Revisiting the Boys of Ballikinkrain’, and ‘A Rights-Respecting Approach to Children Who Offend’, the 2022 Kilbrandon Lecture delivered by Dr Claire Lightowler.

Sheriff David Mackie and Fiona Dyer (Director, CYCJ) will Chair, supported by co-chairs with lived experience of the justice and care systems.
