The Children’s Rights Group at Doughty Street Chambers and the Youth Justice Legal Centre at Just for Kids Law invite you to join us in launching our legal guide on Trauma Informed Lawyering in the youth justice system.
Our legal guide provides an overview of what trauma informed lawyering is and why it matters. Lawyers working with children in the criminal justice system need to be aware of trauma and its effects, to be able to identify its impact and, if necessary, to draw it to the attention of decision makers. The legal guide gives practical tips on how to work in a trauma informed way, and on if, how and when to introduce evidence of trauma to support legal strategies at each stage of a criminal case.
The guide provides practical advice on the work that needs to be done by the defence at each stage. Please join us for this online seminar to hear from leading experts on the topic of trauma informed lawyering in the youth justice system
